4. துவ்வாப் பத்து

(Likeliness 10 – This is the fourth set of 10 poems of the 100. These 10 songs take the tone “Even if it is this, it is like that only”). I am not sure “Likeliness” is the right word. It could be “Synonymous 10”)

ஆர்கலி உலகத்து மக்கட்கு எல்லாம் -

This is the starting line for each stanza that means "For all the people who are living in this world surrounded by seas"

1. பழியோர் செல்வம் வறுமையின் துவ்வாது.

Even if the guilty (sinner) is wealthy, yet he is poor.

2. கழி தறுகண்மை பேடியின் துவ்வாது.

Excessive bravery (Over confidence – Not fearing what needs to be feared), is yet like cowardice.

3. நாண் இல் வாழ்க்கை பசித்தலின் துவ்வாது.

Shameless earning (eating through shameless earning – Even if you are satisfied), is yet like perpetual hunger.

4. பேண் இல் ஈகை மாற்றலின் துவ்வாது.

Forced offerings are not considered as Charity. (Emphasize is on offering something heartily).

5. செய்யாமை மேற்கோள் சிதடியின் துவ்வாது.

Making tall claims (that I would do anything, when it is not possible) is like immaturely ignorant.

6. பொய் வேளாண்மை புலைமையின் துவ்வாது.

Faking help (assistance – without genuinely helping) is like a menial act.

7. கொண்டு கண்மாறல் கொடுமையின் துவ்வாது.

Not helping a friend (Old friend – when he needs help) is like committing crime. (Is cruel)

8. அறிவு இலி துணைப்பாடு தனிமையின் துவ்வாது.

Friendship with an Idiot is yet like being alone.

9. இழிவுடை மூப்புக் கதத்தின் துவ்வாது.

The Old & unwise (who is old and unwise – have not gathered wisdom) and Anger are equally useless.

10. தான் ஓர் இன்புறல் தனிமையின் துவ்வாது.

A wealthy person who is not sharing with wealth and not helping others (Enjoying all by himself) is like a poor only. This seems to be pretty close to point 1.
